This section is not likely to be of relevance to typical General Insurance intermediaries but
basically recognises the use of “Chinese walls” (withholding of information between different
parts of a business) to manage conflicts of interests in appropriate circumstances. The effect
of the rule is to provide a defence for firms using Chinese walls against possible proceedings
under various other regulations.
