Flying a vital mission with lives on the line. Then a hot spot starts to develop that leads to headaches, fatigue, and a distraction I can’t afford. There I was, using poorly designed add-on equipment that was meant to make my job and mission easier, when it was clear to me that it was engineered by a team that didn’t know the job and its requirements. There I was, when safety equipment should have prevented or reduced an injury, and a fellow crew member had less than the best available, because the technology was not keeping up with current materials and innovations. Here I am, thinking that if I could just bring the right minds and passions together, we could propel the aviation helmet industry forward… and we have!

EXPERIENCE AND PASSION ARE A CATALYST
J. Scott Hedges is a 27 year veteran of the US Army, retiring as CW5, MH-47E Pilot in June of 2011. Serving close to fifteen years with the 160th Special Operation Aviation Regiment at Ft. Campbell, KY. In 2007 he became the Regiment Aviation Life Support Officer responsible for the development of life support items not generally found in the regular Army. Of note, his shop was responsible for the testing and acceptance of a new comfort liner and testing commercially available helmets at the United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL). During his time testing and interacting with USAARL staff, he developed his passion to improve safety, comfort and design of aviation helmets.
