COMMUNICATIONS HARNESS

To fully inspect the communications harness, the comfort liner and ShockLiner must be removed.
Remove the Nephos™ comfort liner which is attached to the impact liner with hook and loop fasteners.

Remove nape assembly retention screw at the back of the ShockLiner.

Remove the trim lock from the shell before pulling out the ShockLiner.
Remove ShockLiner from helmet shell with the ShockLiner tools.

-Inspect for general condition. Ensure nothing is loose, broken, torn or missing.
Inspect the wires leading to the volume control (option) unit for fraying or loose connection.

Inspect the wiring leading to the microphone assembly for fraying or loose connection.

Inspect the wiring leading to the earcup assemblies for fraying or loose connection.

NOTE: To inspect the internal components of the earcups, refer to the earcup inspection section of this manual.

Inspect the wiring leading to the communications cord plug for fraying or loose connection.

Inspect the communications cord plug for fraying or loose connection. Especially pay attention to where the wire enters the TP-120 hard outer casing as this is an area of high stress. In addition, inspect the silver contact area for pitting, corrosion or deformity.

If any of the above inspections find an unsatisfactory condition, contact Paraclete or a trained local ALSE Technician for replacement of deficient components.

To reassemble, reverse disassembly steps. Note: Care must be taken when re-installing the impact shell back into place. Lay out the wires of the communication harness so that there is slack in all directions to each component. If the wire is tight in an area and is then pulled by re-inserting the ShockLiner, you may cause damage to the wire connections that were just inspected.
