From the Council of Lifesaving Clubs (CLC) Executive
The Council of Life Saving Club’s remit is to work to ensure that there is effective and efficient communication and cooperation between all Clubs and LSV.
The Club Support Manual works towards this remit, as well as supporting clubs in the 7 major duties:
- provide guidance on the direction and improvement of Life Saving Club administration and development;
- assist in the implementation of Life Saving Club governance, management and succession structures;
- assist Life Saving Clubs to implement efficient financial management;
- develop Life Saving Club level risk management policies and procedures;
- assist Life Saving Clubs to satisfy OH&S requirements;
- assist Life Saving Clubs with facilities management and improvement; and
- attract and retain members at all levels.
The CLC executive commends the continued work of the Club Support team, specifically the Volunteer Support Officers from across LSV. We hope that the Manual provides additional reference materials for clubs to enhance and build their clubs.
About the Club Support Manual
The Club Support Manual has been designed as a reference for club personnel to create better managed, more sustainable and high-quality services to their members and the wider community. This Manual should assist Clubs in effective and efficient administration, systems and procedures essential to gaining consistency at Club and State level.
Members within your Club who actively participate in the design, implementation, management and evaluation of its activities should have easy access to the Club Manual. Templates, proformas and general policy and procedures are included to allow Clubs to adopt relevant aspects. These are available in hard and soft copy, and can be found in Word format on the LSV Club Gateway for easy access.
The contents of the Club Manual will enable clubs to:
- Manage administrative functions
- Prepare strategic business plans
- Practice good finance
- Liaise effectively with relevant parties
This Manual should be referred as a means to:
- Identify areas for improvement
- Identify what areas are already being met
- Monitor progress and re-evaluate objectives
a) How to use the Club Support Manual
It is recommended that relevant members of each Club have access to the sections applicable to their roles and responsibilities. The Manual will prove particularly useful when a member assumes a new role in club management.
This Club Support Manual can be found through the Club Gateway. The manual can be downloaded and printed, however as a live document we recommend using it online to ensure you have the most up to date information.
b) Additional information Available
The Manual does not include specific details around Lifesaving Services (Operations), Volunteer Training or Aquatic Sport (including competition). If you require support around the specifics in these areas, head to the Club Gateway
