Reminder to all JACs to ensure that the Surf Risk Rating App is completed by the appropriate personnel, i.e. Water Safety Supervisor or similar before any Nippers session is conducted on the beach. Remember that it should be used prior to any other out-of-regular ‘Nipper time’ training sessions eg coaching.

Special Events If your club is hosting a participation event that is open to members of the public, a levy may be imposed to address the additional risk. By acting as an event promoter or organiser, your club does expose itself to any legal action should an adverse incident occur during that event. Unfortunately, waivers and release forms signed by participants are often not enough to protect the club from legal liability in the event of a claim.

Risk Management
Please ensure that the Surf Risk Rating (SRR) is completed by the appropriate personnel—such as the Water Safety Supervisor—prior to the commencement of any Nippers session on the beach. This requirement also applies to any training sessions held outside regular Nipper hours, such as coaching sessions.
