CIP Filter Maintenance
The second Maintenance screen allows the user to set the maximum amount of pressure variance for the fresh water flow through the CIP spray system. If the pressure variance (delta) is too great, it is an indication that there is support material buildup in the CIP Cylinder Filters. Cleaning the CIP Filters is explained in greater detail on the next page.
As shown in Figure 21. CIP Filter Maintenance, the CIP Filter Maintenance screen displays the current delta between the highest and lowest pressure through the CIP Filter system. The Delta Configuration slider allows the user to set the maximum delta before an alarm is triggered alerting the operator that the CIP Filters need to be cleaned.
The RADOR includes two stainless steel cylinder tank filters that need to be cleaned whenever the pressure through the system exceeds the number as set for the CIP Pressure Delta Configuration. The two cylindrical tank filters facilitate clean water flowing to the “Clean in Place” CIP nozzle and must be cleaned whenever support material or sediment begins to clog up the filtering system and create unwanted pressure increases. Follow the steps below to remove the filter screens from the cylinders for cleaning.
The CIP Filters are located behind the right-side panel near the main chamber. To remove the filters for cleaning:
- Turn off the flow of fresh water to the filters by lifting both of the two yellow valves up 90 degrees.
Next, empty out the two-cylinder filters by opening the valves at the base of each filter. Shown in the picture above. - Remove each of the cylinder housings by loosening the top threaded collar, as shown in the example at left. The collars can be loosened by hand, or by using the included leverage tool. Insert the tool into one of the collar holes and turn the collar left to loosen it.
- Carefully remove the steel cylinder housing and remove the internal filter. The stainless steel filter is shown at left. Rinse both of the filters under fresh water to remove any support material buildup. Operators can also use a plastic bristle brush to gently scrape material from the outer surface of the filter. Use caution to avoid damaging the filter during the cleaning process.
- When finished cleaning both filters, carefully put the filter system back together. Remember to turn the fresh water flow valves back into the ON position (parallel to the hoses).
