Thank you for your interest in IPConfigure’s Orchid Video Management System. This guide should provide you with everything you need to know as you get started using Orchid Hybrid VMS, Fusion, or Recorder. We’ll begin with an overview of the products and the user guide, then we’ll review the user interface and dive into specific details for viewing and exporting video.

Orchid Recorder is the foundation of IPConfigure’s Video Management System. Orchid Recorder runs on a single server to collect, record, and store video from network cameras. Orchid Hybrid and Orchid Fusion VMS are enterprise software packages developed to integrate multiple Orchid Recorders from various locations into one seamless management system. Most users will interact with Orchid Hybrid VMS, which manages the system through the cloud. For systems that include an on-premise management server, users will gain access through Orchid Fusion VMS. The Orchid Recorder server may also be accessed directly, if needed.

About the Orchid VMS User Guide

The Orchid VMS User Guide is intended to cover the tasks performed during basic, daily operation. This guide will focus on the Hybrid interface, as it is the most widely used. You will find screenshots from all three products throughout this guide, as well as special notes to indicate where these products are different.

This guide includes information on the following topics:

It is important to remember that your system administrator sets up all of the users with various degrees of access. (In Orchid Recorder, this is done by assigning you to a User role. In Orchid Hybrid and Orchid Fusion VMS, this is done using a more granular permissions structure.) This User Guide assumes that you have all of the available permissions. If that is not the case, some features may be unavailable to you.
