Beginning in Orchid VMS version 25.6, new options are available for setting the time zone on the Timeline Bar. In Orchid Recorder, users will be able to change the time zone manually. In Orchid Hybrid VMS, in addition to the manual change option, the system may be configured to change the time zone automatically.

Setting the Timeline Time Zone Manually

In Orchid VMS, all users with access to the Timeline Bar will also have the ability to set the Timeline Bar to a specific time zone. This process is covered in the Time Zone Alert topic.

How the Automatic Time Zone Works (Hybrid/Fusion)

Administrators will now have the ability to modify the Fusion configuration file to turn the automatic time zone switch Automatic and Manual. If your Administrator has set the automatic time zone switch to Automatic, the active time zone on the Timeline Bar will change automatically, as follows:

  • When the first Player is added to the Stage, the Timeline Bar will switch to match the Player’s Orchid Recorder time zone (if different from your time zone).
  • When/if the first Player is removed from the Stage, the Timeline Bar will switch to match the time zone of the second Player that was added to the Stage (if there are no other Players on the Stage with the same time zone as the first Player).
  • When the Stage is cleared (and all Players are removed), the time zone will automatically switch to match your time zone.
  • When Stage cycles are running, the time zone will automatically change to match the first Player on the active Stage.

For more information on setting the automatic time zone switch, please refer to the Orchid VMS Administrator Guide and the Orchid Fusion VMS Installation Guide.
