Orchid VMS provides a small overlay on the Player to indicate the time zone difference between your time zone and the Orchid Recorder. This Time Zone Alert serves as a reminder that may become important as you review and potentially report on the video.

As you review video, by default, the Timeline Bar will reflect your time zone. If the Time Zone Alert overlay appears in white, the Orchid Recorder and your time zone are the same. If the Time Zone Alert overlay appears in orange, it will reflect the time zone of the Orchid Recorder, relative to your time zone. In the example pictured below, the Time Zone Alert is “+14 hrs.” This means that the Orchid Recorder server is 14 hours ahead of your time zone. So if the time at the Timeline Bar reads 10:50, the time at the Orchid Recorder would be 00:50.

To Expand the Time Zone Alert

  1. To view specific time zone information, click on the overlay. The overlay will expand to display the time zone for both the Orchid Recorder server and the client (as in the image below).

  1. To condense the Time Zone Alert, click the X in the upper-right corner of the overlay.

Changing the Time Zone Manually

Beginning in version 25.6, Orchid VMS allows users to change the time zone on the Timeline Bar. This allows you to decide which time zone setting is most beneficial for you.

  1. To change the time zone, first click on the Time Zone Alert overlay to expand it. The expanded alert now shows you the time zone at the Orchid Recorder server, and your time zone (at your client machine).
    1. The check mark indicates which time zone is currently active on the Timeline Bar.
    2. The Select option will appear next to the other time zone.

  1. Click the Select option to switch the time zone on the Timeline Bar. (You will receive a quick message that indicates the time zone has been changed.)
