Additions

Change Password Module

  • A new module was added to the In-Synch Toolbar called “Change Password”. By using this module, all RMS users can change their password whenever desired. If this module is not present on your toolbar, please contact the In-Synch Helpdesk to have it enabled.

CJIS Password Compliance

  • To ensure the RMS passwords meet CJIS compliance, the following password integrity checks were added. By default, these checks are not enabled. In order to have this feature enabled, please contact the In-Synch Helpdesk.
  • CJIS Compliant Password Integrity Checks:
    • Must be a minimum length of eight (8) characters on all systems.
    • May not be a dictionary word or proper name.
    • May not be the same as the User Name.
    • Expires within a maximum of 90 calendar days.
    • May not be identical to the previous ten (10) passwords.
    • Will not be displayed when entered.

90 Day Password Expiration

  • With the CJIS preference-enabled, all RMS users will be required to change their passwords every 90 days. The warning listed below will display at login seven days before expiration, and continue to alert the user at each login until the password changes or expires.

  • After 90 days the password will expire. When the password expires, the RMS user will be forced to change their password at login as illustrated in the picture below.

Force User to Change Password On First Login

  • A new feature was implemented to force RMS users to change their password on the first login. To access this feature, select a user account, and click the “Force User to Change Password on Next Login” button in the Security Management module.

  • With the “Force User to Change Password on First Login” option selected, the RMS user will be prompted with the message shown in the picture below at first login.

  • Clicking “OK” and acknowledging the above message results in the window illustrated below. This new window permits the user to update their password.
