The AARP Foundation Experience Corps national office is responsible for establishing standards and creating consistent sets of resources to be used and applied by local programs. However, we are also invested in ensuring that all programs and volunteers feel connected to and valued by our entire nationwide network. Therefore, the national office and local programs may provide additional opportunities to engage volunteers at the local and national levels.

Network Newsletter: Stay abreast with the most up-to-date program news and applicable AARP resources by subscribing to the AARP Foundation Experience Corps Network Newsletter, our quarterly digital newsletter distributed via email to all program staff, volunteers and partners.

Special Events: The national office hosts special events to engage volunteers directly in conversation with each other. These national events include occasional volunteer workshops and volunteer programming at the annual national meeting that takes place after the end of the school year. These events aim to provide additional professional development while creating community and sharing resources. Learn about these events via the Network Newsletter or from your local program staff.

Access to AARP Resources: Occasionally, national office staff will advertise special partnerships and AARP resources that may have benefit to our volunteers. Learn about these special resources via the Network Newsletter or from your local program staff.

Volunteer Leadership Positions: From time to time, leadership opportunities for volunteers arise at the local or national levels. Your local program may need site coordinators or regional site coordinators or have other opportunities for volunteers to maximize their talents and passions. At the national level, the Volunteer Engagement Affinity Group is an advisory board of program staff and two volunteers, appointed from across the nationwide network, to guide decision-making around practices, products, and services that affect volunteers. Learn about what opportunities might be available to you from your local program staff.

Awards and Recognition: We are grateful for all our volunteers and want you to feel recognized and valued by your local program, our national office, and AARP and AARP Foundation. Therefore, we occasionally spotlight volunteers during our national workshops and meetings. We receive submissions through local programs for spotlights and hope to hear about you and your volunteer story someday. If you ever have suggestions for volunteer engagement and recognition, please share them with your program staff who can share with our Volunteer Engagement Affinity Group and national office staff.

One last note—your local program is likely to have its own unique recognition and communications channels, community events, agency resources, leadership roles, and additional opportunities to share your passion and talents with your local and our national communities. We encourage all volunteers to take full advantage of the resources available to you.

Lastly, thank you again for joining us. We look forward to seeing all the special things you’ll do as a part of our nationwide network.
