ActiveControl Web Platform 9.00 continues to use the existing ActiveControl authorisation roles concept. This is documented in a seperate Security Roles Matrix spreadsheet, and is available on request from Basis Technologies.

Although no new Authorisation Objects have been added as part of ActiveControl Web Platform 9.00, there is an increased usage of the assigned authorisation activities in determining what features a user sees within the Web Platform. One of the aims of the ActiveControl Web Platform is to provide a cleaner UI, where users only see the screens, buttons etc that are relevant to their usage of ActiveControl. This has been done by Basis Technologies in reponse to feedback from customers over the years that both the Windows GUI and WebUI offered a lot of functionality that was not relevant for their own implementation of ActiveControl, and that it sometimes caused confusion for their users.

ActiveControl Web Platform aims to address this, both by new Feature Deactivation capability to allow individual Customers to show/hide certain parts of the product, and also increased checks against the Authorisation roles concept to only show functionality to users that they are actually authorised to use.
