Post-Program Orientation & Opportunities

  • Re-Entry Orientation: Students are expected to attend re-entry orientation programming in the semester following their return from their semester or year-long program. The purpose of the re-rentry orientation is to assist students with their cultural transition back to the U.S., identify opportunities to continue their intercultural learning after study abroad, and learn to integrate their study abroad experiences throughout the remainder of their time at RMC.
  • Study Abroad Ambassador Program: Returnees who have already spent at least one semester abroad are eligible to become Study Abroad Ambassadors to promote study abroad to fellow Yellow Jackets. Selected students are required to attend a mandatory training session, be available to make presentations and talk with classes, campus groups, and during special events (e.g. info sessions, study abroad fair, admissions days) about study abroad.
  • Study Abroad Photo Contest: Every February OIE hosts the annual Study Abroad Photo Contest. Students are invited to submit up to three photos to enter the contest. Photos are judged on creativity, composition and culture. Top photos will be displayed in the annual Study Abroad Photo Exhibition during the Spring semester at the library. More details will be sent to participants upon return.
  • Gaining an Edge from Your International Experience: When you return, plan to participate in this workshop offered jointly by OIE and EDGE each semester.
  • Consider getting involved with the International Interest Group, living in the International House, serving as an International Assistant to help new international students adjust to RMC, or explore other intercultural organizations at RMC to keep that international connection going.
