Beginning in version 24.3, Orchid Hybrid/Fusion supports the Thumbnail Search (on Orchid Recorders version 24.3 and greater). This feature makes it easier to search video over a long period of time. Essentially, the Thumbnail Search is breaking video down into identifiable segments. For any given date (for which video is available), the Thumbnail Search presents you with a thumbnail image representing each hour of video that contains motion. And for each of these hours, the Thumbnail Search displays a thumbnail that represents each minute of video that contains a motion event. You may select any of these events to view on the Player.
- To get started, position the mouse over the Player; this will activate the Search Selector icon.
- Click the Search Selector icon to reveal the two search-related icons.
- Click on the Thumbnail Search icon to initiate the Thumbnail Search.
The Thumbnail Search will appear to the right of the Player. To get started, you’ll need to select a date and your viewing preference.
- Go to the Choose a Date field and do either of the following:
- Type a date, or
- Click on the Calendar icon to select a date.
- When the calendar appears, you will see green dots under each day that has available video. Click on the desired date.
- Now, select your viewing preference by clicking on the Thumbnail View icon or the Grid View icon.
- At this point, you may scroll through the available thumbnails to find the hour that you want to review. (Notice that each thumbnail indicates how many event thumbnails it contains.)
- When you find it, click on the hour that you want to review. Now the Thumbnail View panel will display thumbnails for each available event.
- Click on the event that you want to review and the associated video will play on-screen.
- To exit Thumbnail Search, you may click the X in the top-right corner of the Thumbnail Search panel, or click the Thumbnail Search icon.
Combining the Thumbnail Search and Smart Search
You may combine the Thumbnail Search and Smart Search to find very specific event video. In the example below, we selected a date for the Thumbnail Search. Then we clicked the Smart Search icon and drew a motion detection region. (Notice that at the top of the Thumbnail Search panel, there is a note that says “Filtering by region.”) The available thumbnails meet the qualifications for the Thumbnail Search and the Smart Search. The resulting event playback shows motion in the motion filter region.
