Please note that this backup is for the home screen layout. We are here describing the process with “Nova Launcher”, which is the default for many of our customers, however other launchers may offer the possibility for creating a backup too.

Preparations

Assuring that you have a Google-account

Please, make sure that you have a Google account on your Yetitablet. You can check it by swiping down from the top and opening the settings via clicking onto the settings cog icon. Scroll down to the section named Accounts. Please click on “Accounts” and find out whether you have a Google account added to the Yetitablet or alternatively add it by pressing the row with the +-sign “Add account”.

Backups in “Nova Launcher”

Creating a Backup

  • Please search for the NovaSettings app from the app drawer via the icon.
  • Type “nova” into the search function or scroll down in the alphabetical index.
  • Open the NovaSettings app by clicking onto it.
  • In the menu, please choose the “Backup & Import Settings”
  • After that please press Backup.

Saving the Backup

The backup can be saved locally or externally.

Local storing

  • After you have created a Backup, please name it recognizably e.g. with the name of your institution/company, date, amount of pages, client name, etc.
  • Please, choose xxxxxx and press ok.

External storing

  • After you have created a Backup, please name it recognizably e.g. with the name of your institution/company, date, amount of pages, client name, etc.
  • Please, choose the triangle-formed Share and press ok.
  • Next, you will see a selection of places where to share the Backup to. We recommend to use a could service or an email like Gmail to have an external source and safely store the backup file. If you send the Backup to your email you can also store the backup file on your computer or laptop.

Restoring a Backup

If you would like to restore a previously saved home screen backup the following steps will guide you on how to do this in Nova Launcher. This can be useful e.g. when the folders have been accidentally mixed up by someone.

  • Choose novalauncher as home
  • Open novasettings app

Restoring premade homescreen:

  • Follow the route: Novasetting > Backup & import settings > Restore or manage backups
  • Tap browse
  • From top right of the screen select 3 dots and choose “show internal storage”
  • From top left of the screen select 3 lines and open your device storage
  • Find backup you have made or know that was made for you, from the list and select that.
  • Confirm overwriting layout
  • Exit from the menu using the controls on the bottom of the screen

If you have problems with navigating inside the file browser, you can tap the following button on the top right of your screen to change the view.
