Composing an AFD-definition starts with defining the specifications of the product, service, storage or reference for which the AFD-definition is created. More information about service, storage and reference, will become available soon in the Manual SIVI All Finance Standard. Example: for the service newRate (used for premium calculation), it is important to collect the parameters needed to calculate the premium, like the coverages, object data or deductible amounts.
Not only the product, service, storage or reference specifications are important, it is also important to know in which domain the AFD-definition will operate. An AFD-definition for the domain ‘Volmacht Distributie’ (underwriting agents) requires other agreements (see paragraph AFD-definition UIV) than an AFD-definition in the ‘Provinciale distributie’ (classic distribution through independent agents) (see paragraph AFD-definition UIP).
For services based on the API framework, it is important to include the agreements as described in Manual SIVI All Finance Standard, chapter Domain specific functions into the specifications of the AFD definition to be composed.
One or multiple AFD-definitions?
When users create or modify AFD-definitions, they must adhere to certain principles. An AFD-definition can encompass one or more functions, with each function constituting a partial AFD-definition within the overall structure. It is only feasible to define multiple functions within one AFD-definition, if:
- the functions align with a single process
- the functions adhere to uniform value constraints (for both attributes and codelists)
Should the value constraints differ across functions, separate AFD-definitions must be created. Value constraints are applicable to all functions within an AFD-definition and cannot vary among them. Note that this only applies to value constraints: distinct entities and attributes can differ between each function. The decision to integrate all functions into a single AFD-definition or to create separate AFD-definitions for each function is also influenced by business policy.
Steps
The steps required to create an AFD-definition are outlined schematically in the following paragraph (Overview of the steps). Once the AFD-definition is composed, it is prepared for implementation within the software. Software companies ensure the availability of the AFD-definition within the users’ software.
