- The Carbon fixture system that is included with the machine has been designed for two different use cases. It can be used for (1) Carbon L1 printer build platform or (2) Carbon M2 printer build platforms. There are no tools or swapping of parts for this change.
- Currently there are no directives to the exact location of the build platform within the tank. I.E. how close to place in front of the ultrasonics. The location of the u-handle on the L1 build platform is also not a requirement for repeatability.
- The use of the fixture system is simplistic by design so that there are no tools or other modifications needed to go from M2 build platforms to an L1 build platform.
- The assemblies that are mounted to the rail are only intended to rotate about 10 degrees. This rotation is only to allow the locating tab to clear the locating cutouts in the frame.
Install L1 Build Platform:
- Move the 2 M2 fixtures to the left as shown in the picture below.
- Move the 4 smaller L1 fixtures into place also shown in the picture below.
- There should be a max of 5 locating slots between the two L1 mounts. There are also numbers on both the front and rear frame sections that can help align the fixtures. See pictures below.
Install M2 Build Platform:
- The fixture system can handle 2 M2 build platforms simultaneously. Because of the rotating feature of the M2 fixture mounts, it is also possible to have handles in different orientations if required.
- The M2 build platform mounts to the fixture utilizing the kinematic balls on the underside of the build platform handle. These balls sit into the 3 holes in the top of the fixture. The M2 fixture mount also utilizes Delrin pads to help secure and locate the build platform.
- The M2 fixture mounts move in the same manner as the L1’s. Rotate up slightly and slide to desired position. The location of the M2 fixture mounts are completely independent from another.
- Note in the picture below, the L1 fixture mounts are slid all the way to the right to a stored position to allow the M2 mounts to utilize the same space.
