Packaging specifications which were arranged between customer and supplier are saved in the tab “Packaging” (packaging material definition).
As an example, the following packaging material (PM) definition:
- 8 small load carriers (SLC) with the content of 20 pieces per SLC
- 1 pallet
- 1 lid
This PM definition is created as follows:
Each row represents one packaging material.
Start off with the smallest unit (the unit within which the item to be packed is contained).
Usually only two layers are defined (first layer “single”, second layer “master”)
1 to 99 PM definition variants can be created for a partner sales order.
Packaging variant (@IAG_PBS1.U_Pmdvar):
Contains the packaging material variant. It is suggested to start the definition with PM variant “01”.
Packaging layer (@IAG_PBS1.U_Pmdeb1):
Contains the layer of the PM definition. It is suggested to start with layer “01”.
Content (@IAG_PBS1.U_Pmdeb2):
Contains the PM layer of the subordinate PM definition.
Item ID of packaging (@IAG_PBS1.U_Itemcode):
Contains the item ID of the packaging material. The packaging materials have to be defined in the B1 item master data. The link button (yellow arrow) leads to the item master data.
Packaging description (@IAG_PBS1.U_Itemname):
Contains the item description out of the item master data.
Packaging description customer (@IAG_PBS1.U_Pmdnam):
Contains the customer’s description of the packaging material.
Quantity per layer (@IAG_PBS1.U_Mngebn):
Contains the quantity which is packed in the packaging material on this layer (e.g. the first row has a 20 in this field, that means there are 20 items in each SLC. The second row has 4 per layer and 2 layers in total – that means there are in total 8 SLCs on the pallet).
Number of layers (@IAG_PBS1.U_Anzebn):
Contains the amount of layers (tier/position) in the PM.
Total quantity of packaging (@IAG_PBS1.U_Anzgpm):
Contains the total amount of PM in a PM definition. Always enter a “1” here. This information is important only if the PM definition consists of frames.
Number of separating agents (@IAG_PBS1.U_Anztrm):
Contains the amount of separators per layer (tier/position).
Last layer less (@IAG_PBS1.U_Lztswn):
If the last layer (the highest one) has not as many separators as the normal ones, the quantity less than the normal layers is entered here, that is the difference between the two.
Carrier flag (@IAG_PBS1.U_Inhkz):
This drop-down selection tags the packaging material (PM). There are two possiblities to select from: “Carrier” and “Separator” PM
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
I | Carrier | Whenever the PM contains something |
T | Separator | If the PM is used to separate layers (tier/position) or as a lid |
Inventory management flag (@IAG_PBS1.U_Bfrkz):
This drop-down selection determines if the PM is deducted from the “Packaging storage location” (defined in the tab ERP) when the ATM goods issue is processed.
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
J | Inventory managment | The PM is deducted through the feature “Packaging booking” in the ATM goods issue |
N | No inventory management | No debiting is performed through the feature “Packaging booking” in the ATM goods issue |
Padding flag (@IAG_PBS1.U_Aflkz):
This drop-down selection determines whether the padding rule is valid for this PM or not. The padding rule states that if the last layer is not completely full, empty PMs have to be provided. In short, the missing full PMs are made up by empty ones. This rule is often applied to SLCs. The following characteristics are possible:
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
J | pad with empty PP | The layer in question is filled up with empty PMs until the normal amount is reached (until it’s full) |
N | no padding | No padding is conducted |
Separator type (@IAG_PBS1.U_Pmdstr):
This drop-down selection is used for several features. At the moment however there is just one use. It determines if the PM is a seperator and a lid at the same time. If that is the case, it is calculated just one time for the respective layer. The following characteristics are possible:
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
N | Normal separator | Has no function |
D | Lid | This PM is a separator with the feature “Lid” |
Transmission flag (@IAG_PBS1.U_Utgkz):
This drop-down selection determines which PMs are transmitted in the ASN (advise shipping note) EDI. The PMs that are not transmitted are at the same time not printed onto the goods issue/receipt slip (GIS).
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
J | transmission | The PMs are both transmitted in the ASN and printed onto the GIS |
N | no transmission | The PMs are not transmitted in the ASN and also not printed onto the GIS |
Goods tag format (@IAG_PBS1.U_Wahfrm):
This drop-down selection determines which goods tag and what size (shape) is printed for this PM. The following characteristics are possible:
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
N | no format | No goods tags (GT) are printed for this PM |
K | SLC | SLC-GTs are printed. The size is 1/4 of a DIN A4 page |
G | LLC | LLC-GTs are printed. The size is 1/2 of a DIN A4 page |
Goods tag type (@IAG_PBS1.U_Wahken):
This tag determines on which layer the PM is. Usually SLCs out of one bundle are tagged with “S” (single) and superior ones – pallets for example – are tagged with “M” (master). The following characteristics are possible:
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
N | no type | This PM gets no goods tag |
S | single | This PM gets a goods tag with the label “S” (single) |
M | master | This PM gets a goods tag with the label “M” (master) |
Packaging Flag (@IAG_PBS1.U_Vpkkz):
Contains the packaging flag. The following characteristics are possible:
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
B | Blank | No flag |
M | Multipath | This packaging material is a multipath packaging material |
E | Disposable | This packaging material is a disposable packaging material |
Ownership Flag (@IAG_PBS1.U_Eigkz):
Contains the ownership flag. The following characteristics are possbile:
Value | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
B | Blank | No tagging |
D | Multipath returnable pack. owed by customer | |
K | Multipath pack. owed by customer | |
L | Multipath pack. owed by supplier |
Item net weight (@IAG_PBS1.U_Artgew):
Contains the net weight of the item to be packed. Only the first PM has a value here.
Packaging weight (Tare) (@IAG_PBS1.U_Pmdgew):
Contains the weight of the PM (If entered in the item master data, it is updated automatically. But can be altered manually).
Creation User (@IAG_PBS1.U_Anlusr):
Contains the user who created the PM.
Creation Date (@IAG_PBS1.U_Anldat):
Contains the creation date of the PM.
Creation Time (@IAG_PBS1.U_Anlzet):
Contains the creation time of the PM.
Update User (@IAG_PBS1.U_Updusr):
Contains the user who was the last to update the packaging material.
Update Date (@IAG_PBS1.U_Upddat):
Contains the date on which the PM was last updated.
Update Time (@IAG_PBS1.U_Updzet):
Contains the time when the PM was last updated.
