PRIOR TO EACH USE:
To prevent corrosion and discoloration, you should clean your pot before each use as well. Otherwise there could be residue from sitting up, that will counteract with the aluminum while boiling and will create the discoloration and/or corrosion.
Apply dish soap, soak with water, and scrub with the rough side of a sponge to remove any buildup from the inside and outside of your cooker. Rinse your pot or pan and dry it with a dish towel. Your cooker is now ready for use.

AFTER EACH USE:
Apply dish soap, soak with water, and scrub with the rough side of a sponge to remove any buildup from the inside and outside of your cooker. Rinse your pot or pan and dry it with a dish towel. Your cooker is now ready for the next use or next season!

  • Don’t use steel wool or other abrasive scrubbers, as this may scratch your cookware.
  • Never leave any wet seasoning in the pot after boiling is complete. The salt content and other ingredients in the seasonings may become corrosive and cause damage to the pot interior.

STORAGE:
Aluminum can sometime corrode, especially if two different types of metal sit together over a long period of time and/or the pot or basket was not wash AND dried all the way prior to storage. The metals will fight each other to achieve their internal state, and depending on how the pot and basket were built from the factory, there can be times where there are two different types of base metal in them. This will cause the possibility of corrosion of black, grey, white discoloration or metal pitting can occur.
Therefore, It is recommended to store the basket separately from the pot , OR you can put the basket in a black garbage bag or something similar to keep the two metals from touching each other. OR ensure fully cleaned and dried prior to storing.
