Warnings

Failure to adhere to any of the warnings below could result in personal injury or damage to equipment. Improper use of PostProcess equipment may void the warranty. Read thoroughly before operating the machine. If the machine appears to be malfunctioning in any way, immediately push the EMERGENCY STOP button and refer to the Troubleshooting section of this guide. If the issue is not able to be resolved, call PostProcess support.

Caution should be used whenever working with electrically-powered equipment. If there is an emergency situation, it is important to note that hitting the POWER button does not turn off power to the DEMI 4100. It turns off the operating cycle only. To shut off power to the DEMI 4100, turn off the MASTER DISCONNECT SWITCH. For switch location, see image below under the “Electrical Safety” section.

Ventilation

PostProcess Technologies detergents are specifically formulated for maximized 3D printed resin removal efficiency. Specific ventilation requirements can vary widely due to the local, state, and federal regulations, size of the install room, and existing ventilation (positive or negative).

To meet safety and environmental requirements, it is recommended that the post-printing operations using PostProcess equipment and chemistry solutions have ventilation that is exhausted externally. Our VVD and TAF solutions come equipped with ventilation systems (blowers) (available upon request). Our SVC solutions should be located in a well-ventilated area and have ventilation draw on the open-top tank (available upon request). Makeup air should be provided from the facility where the equipment is located.

It is recommended that customers performing post-printing operations have or consult with a responsible environmental health and safety person (such as an Industrial Hygienist) to determine and verify meeting environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) requirements.

PostProcess can provide the recommended ventilation requirements for each of our solutions as well as recommendations for ventilation consultation and EH&S / Industrial Hygienists.

Environmental Conditions

Operating Environment Requirements:

  • Temperature: 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104 °F)
  • Relative humidity: 0% to 80%.
  • Maximum altitude: 10,000 feet (3,048 meters)
  • Pollution Degree 2
  • Overvoltage Category II

Foreseeable Misuse

  • Do not operate the unit without proper grounding.
  • Do not place the power cord in a location where it may come into contact with water or liquids.
  • Do not heat or use PLM-403-SUB detergent at a temperature greater than 190°F (87.8°C).
    See Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for additional information on PLM-402-SUB use.
  • Do not allow alcohol, gasoline or other flammable solutions near the machine.
    Doing so could cause a fire or explosion.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the machine.
  • Use only PostProcess detergents. Do not add any other liquid solutions to the machine.
  • Do not operate the machine without sufficient detergent in the tank.

Residual Risks

Wear laboratory-style protective glasses.
When working with or near detergents, always wear protective gloves.
The overall machine acoustics may exceed 70dB.
It is recommended to wear hearing protection.
  • Do not touch the detergent with bare skin. Use protective gloves, laboratory-style eyeglasses, and other necessary personal protective equipment when performing any operations including removing parts where skin could come into contact with the detergent.
  • If bare skin comes in contact with detergent, at minimum thoroughly wash the body part with soap and warm, clean water. Always follow safety protocols outlined in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
  • It is best practice that an emergency eyewash station and an emergency safety shower be located near the area where post-printing occurs.

Electrical Safety

Caution should be used whenever working with industrial-powered equipment. If there is an emergency situation, it is important to note that hitting the EMERGENCY STOP button does not turn off power to the DEMI 4100. It turns off the DEMI 4100’s operating cycle only. To shut off power to the DEMI 4100, turn off the MASTER DISCONNECT SWITCH, located on the right panel of the DEMI 4100 as highlighted in green below.
