Before we can start selecting game covers, we have to be knowledgeable of the different game regions. Each region has a specific designated icon on the cover.
In most cases, you can identify a region by the barcode, but this will not always be true. That is why it is important to be familiar with these icons.
Region Tips & Tricks
- The Regions listed in the database are not leading, these are often still wrong (auto-set from the barcode). The Cloud images are leading, and in a further step (different tool) we will use the cover image you select to set the region (based on the age rating logo on the box).
- 13-digit barcodes are usually EU or AU/NZ editions. Knowing so can help pick the right cover, PEGI ratings are EU editions, and the big and wide ugly rating bars are AU/NZ.
- For US releases, you will sometimes see cover images with RP age ratings, meaning “Rating Pending”. We prefer cover images with the actual rating and try to avoid images with RP ratings. However, if it’s all there is, it’s better than nothing.
