Install barriers between performers (singers and players of brass or wind instruments), and between spectators and performers as required in Ontario. Under the COVID-19 response framework: Keeping Ontario safe and open regulatory requirements for barriers increase depending upon regional COVID-19 levels:
- Green (Prevent), Yellow (Protect) and Orange (Restrict) level requirement: “Singers and players of wind or brass instruments must be separated from spectators by plexiglass or some other impermeable barrier.”
- Red (Control) and Grey (Lockdown) level requirement (Performing arts facilities are closed to spectators): “Singers and players of brass or wind instruments must be separated from any other performers by plexiglass or other impermeable barrier.”
- NOTE: Barrier requirements may vary over time and by location. In addition to provincial requirements, check with your local public health unit and municipality for any additional requirements.
- The National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health has published guidance for the design, installation, cleaning and maintenance of transparent partitions in commercial settings. This document can be consulted when considering barriers for singers and musicians.
