COVID-19 Staff Training

Communication is essential for the safe and effective implementation of each venue’s reopening plan. Training sessions are encouraged for all new measures that are implemented in each employee’s area of specialization, and should be required well in advance of reopening. While training in changes to operations may vary depending on the employee’s role, all training should include a presentation of all new measures and policies as they pertain to the venue’s site orientation and COVID-19 reopening plan. This may include but not be limited to:

  • The contents of the plan and all other documentation created as a result of this guide
  • Training workers in effective personal hygiene information and proper and frequent hand washing with soap, as it is vital to help combat the spread of any virus
  • COVID-19 awareness training: symptoms, transmission and best defenses
  • Training workers on the proper use of gloves, including frequency of disposal based on the worker’s specific duties (NOTE: gloves are not a substitute for regular hand washing)
  • Relevant PPE training: masks, face shields and gloves including proper use, fitting and disposal
  • Enhanced cleaning and sterilization methods, particularly for high-touch areas
  • WHIMS orientation for new chemicals in use
  • Protocols for confirmed COVID-19 infection for artists, staff and the public
  • Reporting procedures to escalate COVID-19 health and safety concerns
  • Instruction on how employees can provide feedback on reopening plans and changes to workplace policies and procedures
