The following units with be covered; Health & Wellness, Physical Wellness, Mental Wellness, Drug Awareness, Healthy Sexuality. Opting out of this aspect of the Health Education course shall not be reason for disciplinary action or academic penalty. This one semester course fulfills the graduation requirement. * Students take one semester of Health and one semester of Physical Education their Sophomore year. It is the discretion of the school to modify a student’s placement of Physical Education and Health.

Advanced Health

H50011, H50012

This course will give students the opportunity to explore in depth a variety of health issues. The course will assist in developing skills that will help students make positive decisions with respect to their own personal health. It is a performance-based class including several projects and research activities. Topics include, but not limited to, the following: alternative health care treatments, self-esteem, personal growth, eating disorders, depression, drug abuse, and sexuality issues. This course will be taken in lieu of Physical Education and counts towards the grade point average. If the student fails this course he/she will be required to make up credit in Physical Education. Students must complete Health Education before signing up for Advanced Health.
