Occasion
Marking the 250th anniversary year of the Declaration of Independence, Synod Assembly worship (except for the rites for the opening and closing of a convention) will employ the liturgy and music found in American Lutheran churches at the time of the American Revolution.
Assembly Mass
The Church Agenda of 1748 (a.k.a., The Muhlenberg Liturgy) will be used for the Friday evening Assembly mass. Everything has been translated into English, but hymns and instrumental music for that mass are appropriate to the period in both tune and rhythm. The hymns employed in the liturgy as introit, gloria, gradual, etc. are those Muhlenberg expressly indicated for use.
Assembly Offering
The 2026 Assembly Worship offering has been designated for Community Lutheran Partners, Inc., and the Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU in thanksgiving for their service to this Assembly in staffing beverage service and setting up and tearing down the Assembly respectively. If giving by check, please cut the check to the “WV-WMD Synod” with “SA2026 Mass” on the memo line.
