5.3.1. Resolution #1: To Rescind “A Future, Part-time Option for the Bishop of the West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod (2025)”

To Rescind “A Future, Part-time Option for the Bishop of the West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod” (a.k.a. Setley-Holbert-Ames, substituted) adopted at Synod Assembly 2025.

Whereas, the resolution “To Adopt a Future, Part-time Option for the Bishop of the West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod” put forth options to explore flexibility in the synod but fell short by focusing upon the needs of the candidates for bishop over the needs of the synod; and

Whereas, any determination of the time needed for a bishop should begin with the needs of the synod; therefore, be it

Resolved, that the 2026 West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod Assembly rescind the resolution “To Adopt a Future, Part-time Option for the Bishop of the West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod” (a.k.a. Setley-Holbert-Ames, substituted).
