This infotype lists the important dates in a staff member’s professional life. The 13 date types listed include the Entry on Duty (EDO) dates with the UN Common System and UN Secretariat, the Seniority in Grade and Retirement dates. This infotype cannot be skipped.



The EOD UN Secretariat date is the initial date of uninterrupted service or latest entry date without a break in service, of a staff member with the UN Secretariat on appointment, reappointment, transfer, secondment or loan under the Inter-Organization Agreement.

The EOD UN common system is the initial date of uninterrupted service of a staff member, whether with the UN Secretariat or its Funds and Programmes, or any entity of the UN Common System.

The UM Mandatory Age of Separation field will automatically be set to the last day of the month the staff member turns 65.

The U5 Acquired Right to Retirement date field does not apply to new staff members unless they transfer from another agency with an existing acquired right to retire at 60 or 62.

Enter the initial uninterrupted date in the Common System in the U! field.

Enter the Start date of the PA in the U2 field.

Create the U4 Date type, then enter the EOD date. For interagency transfers, enter the Start date of the PA if the staff member has been promoted or the Seniority in Grade date (provided in the administrative details by the releasing entity) if he/she joins the Secretariat at the same grade level.

Create a U9 Date type, then enter the date the staff member arrived at the duty station (if different from the EOD date).

Create a UA Date type, then enter the date the staff member signed the Oath of Office.





In cases of interagency transfers:

Create a U7 Date type if the staff member was granted a mobility incentive before his/her transfer, then enter the Mobility Effective date (provided in the administrative details by the releasing entity).

Create a U8 Date type, then enter the initial pension participation date (provided in the administrative details by the releasing entity).
