Break confirmations allow employees to confirm that they were given the opportunity to take all of the breaks that they are entitled to.

Some states like California have strict laws to ensure that employees are allowed to take breaks. If employees are not allowed to take breaks, there can be significant legal and financial penalties for the employer. To protect employees and employers, the system supports break confirmations.

Break confirmations are enabled by going to Admin —> Account —> Configure Account Defaults, and clicking the “Require break confirmation” check box as shown here.

Here’s how it works:
When this feature is enabled, employees will be asked to confirm that they were given the opportunity to take all allowed breaks for their shift.

In the employee web portal it looks like this:

If the employee dials in, they will hear Press 1 to confirm that you were given the opportunity to take all lunch and rest breaks, press 2 if you were not.

If the employees does NOT press 1 to confirm, an email notification with the subject “BREAK NOT OFFERED” will be sent to the any email addresses configured in the Notification Profile for the job OR the default supervisor email if Notifcation Profiles are not used or do not have any email addresses configured. In addition, the time entry will be highlighted with (indicated Break Denied) in the Details In/Out column.
