If Sygic fails to calculate a route, below are a few reasons why this happened and how to work around it.
Route calculation failed: Download missing map
- This error usually occurs if you want to create a route from one country to another, while you also need to pass through another country whose map you don’t have downloaded (for example, if you create a route from Spain to Germany, but you don’t have a map of France).
- To avoid this error, make sure you have all the maps needed for your route. You can download maps from Sygic Menu > Offline Maps.
- At the moment, it is not possible to create routes between certain countries unless they have maps from two different map suppliers (most maps of Europe, North America, and Africa are not affected). We are currently working on a technical solution that would allow such routes. Until then, please navigate to the border and then again from the border with such maps.
Route is not calculated, the point is too far away from the road network
This can happen if the app cannot create a route from your specific starting point or destination, because they are too far away from a viable road network. To work around this, you can:
- Change the starting point or destination of the route. Slightly adjusting the start or destination is the most common way to fix this.
- Check your waypoints. If your route has waypoints, a waypoint can also be affected. Adjusting it also helps to resolve this problem.
- Check your vehicle profile – in some cases, your vehicle profile settings may prevent you from navigating to your destination, because there is a vehicle-specific limitation.
The route is incorrect, too long, or gives wrong instructions
- We recommend adding one or more waypoints on your route to adjust the route the app calculated.
- If the route doesn’t recalculate while you are driving, the safest option is to find a place to stop and manually recalculate the route.
- You can ignore incorrect instructions (for example, the app tells you to turn left where there is no left turn). Always adhere to the rules of the road and keep consider your safety, and the safety of your passengers aboard. You can always stop somewhere along the road and adjust your navigation app manually, or the app will adjust automatically.
