In this article, you will learn how to assign products to a location using an excel file.

Why you will need this:

You need to assign products to their possible locations to be able to move them in/out and transfer them from/to these locations.
Doing this will limit possible staff errors, and keep your inventory organized.

What you will need:

Step 1: Download the spreadsheet template

Click “Locations” on the left banner

Go to the “Products” section
Click the “cloud” icon (arrow down) to download the sample spreadsheet.

You will be downloading an excel template with the structure SwiftCount needs to assign products to locations.

Step 2: Fill out the template

Fill out the template
Part Number: (or item number) is your internal identifier for the item. Its purpose is to reference and keep track of that item internally.
WH code: the internal identifier for the store/warehouse
Location Code: your internal identifier for the location
Qty: the number of products you want to assign to the location
Is Primary: Put 1 if this location is the primary location for this product
Serial Lot Number: Enter the serial or Lot number of the product
Reorder point: Personalize the reorder point for this product in that location
Save the file and go back to SwiftCount

Step 3: Upload the template

In the products menu, click the “cloud” icon (arrow up) to upload the template

Select the excel template you just saved
Click “Upload”
If you wish to cancel the process, Click “Close”

If everything is good, Click “Confirm and Go”


Now, click “Upload more” if you have more products to upload
Click “Close” if you are done uploading products
