Add/Import products using an excel file

In this article, you will learn how to add/import products using an excel file to your SwiftCount account.

*Why you will need this: *

Once your SwiftCount account is created, you will want to import all your products/items in SwiftCount to keep track of them.
You want to import products in “batch” or have several products to import to your SwiftCount account and these products are not yet in a 3rd party integration (accounting, POS, e-commerce…).

Step 1: Download the spreadsheet template

Click on the “Products” module on the left banner, 2nd module.
Click “cloud” icon (arrow down) to download the sample spreadsheet.

Select “Download empty template
Click “Download

You will be downloading an excel template with the structure SwiftCount needs to add products. You will need to fill out that template with the products you want to upload to your SwiftCount account.

Step 2: Fill out the template

Add all your products to the template
Part Number: (or item number) is your internal identifier for the item. Its purpose is to reference and keep track of that item internally.
Description: product description
Cost per each: buying cost of your product
On-hand Qty: your current on-hand quantity
UPC: Universal Product Code. The 12 digit “barcode number”
Category: in SwiftCount, you can create and assign products to different categories. Which category do you want your product to be part of ?
Reorder Point: The level of inventory which triggers a notification to replenish that particular inventory stock
Inventory type: “0” or empty indicates a regular product, “1” indicates a “lot” product and “2” indicated a serialized product
Columns “Part Number” and “Description” are mandatory and cannot be omitted.

Save this excel file and go back to SwiftCount

Step 3: Upload the template

In the products menu, click the “cloud” icon (arrow up) to upload the template

Select your excel template
Click “Upload”
If you wish to cancel the process, Click “Close”

If everything is good, Click “Confirm and Go
If you wish to cancel the process, Click “Close

Now, click “Upload more” if you have more products to upload
Click “Close” if you are finished uploading products

Recommendations:

*Cells cannot have formulas.
Columns Part Number and Description are mandatory and cannot be omitted.
We highly recommend downloading the Excel template, fill it out with your products and then upload your template.*
