In this article, you will learn how to add/import locations using an excel file to your SwiftCount account.

Why you will need this:

Locations are the second layers to identify where your products are. (e.g. “Shelf ##”, “Front desk”, “Backroom”, “Bin ##”, etc.)
You want to import locations in “batch” or have several locations to import to your SwiftCount account.

What you will need:

A SwiftCount account. Click here to know how to create a SwiftCount account

Step 1: Download the spreadsheet template

Click on the “Locations” module on the left banner, 3rd module.
Click the “cloud” icon (arrow down) to download the sample spreadsheet.

Select “Download empty template” if you don’t have any existing locations yet in SwiftCount & “Download template with all Locations” if you already have existing locations in SwiftCount
Click “Download”

You will be downloading an excel template with the structure SwiftCount needs to add locations. You will need to fill out that template with the locations you want to upload to your SwiftCount account.

Step 2: Fill out the template

Add all your locations to the template
Location Code: your internal identifier for the location
Description: location description
Save this excel file and go back to SwiftCount

Step 3: Upload the template

In the Locations menu, click the “cloud” icon (arrow up) to upload the template

Select your excel template
Click “Upload”
If you wish to cancel the process, Click “Close”

If everything is correct, Click “Confirm and Go”
If you wish to cancel the process, Click “Close”

Now, click “Upload more” if you have more locations to upload
Click “Close” if you are finished uploading locations

Recommendations:

Cells cannot have formulas.
Columns “Location Code” and “Description” are mandatory and cannot be omitted.
We highly recommend downloading the Excel template, fill it out with your locations and then upload your template.
