Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) advises clubs that, aside from items identified as not recommended, any equipment in use must be operated strictly in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines and under appropriately qualified surveillance.
High Risk Aquatic Play Equipment
SLSA has conducted an independent targeted risk assessment on the use of inflatable aquatic equipment. Following this review, SLSA does not recommend the use of high-risk aquatic play equipment such as water trampolines and inflatable obstacle courses*
Those who choose to utilise this equipment, must:
- Obtain external insurance and/or complete special event documentation as directed (Marsh can provide guidance on this process and whether additional insurance is needed for the activity you propose);
- Put in place appropriate risk mitigation measures and
- Comply with all manufacturer specifications at all times
SLS affiliates that elect to use this equipment do so at their own risk and liability.
*This list is not exhaustive; any comparable equipment must be subject to the same procedures described above.
High Risk Aquatic Play Equipment
Floating water mats are permitted provided they are used:
- Exclusively during Club endorsed and delivered activities;
- Under direct supervision of appropriately qualified water safety personnel; and
- Never for incidental, unsupervised, or unofficial use
