Viewing Layers

When a layer of interest is found, clicking on the title will open the layer viewer.

The Layer Switcher
The layer switcher, found on the top left of the layer view, allows the viewer to turn the layer on or off and to change the basemap. Basemap options are OpenStreetMap, Bing Aerial, Google Satellite, or no background.

The layer legend can be seen on the right. The Show Legend button will produce a legend in a separate window.

Metadata and Attributes
Layer metadata and attribute information is available below the layer viewer. Metadata is listed under the Info tab. Attribute information is listed under the Attributes tab. For more information, see Metadata Guidelines

Layer Tools
Get Feature Info
The Get Feature Info tool can be used to access attribute information for specific features. Clicking on this tool and then clicking on a feature of interest will produce a pop-up with attribute information for that feature.

The Measure tool can be used to measure lengths or areas of interest on the map. Click on the measure tool, choose Length or Area, and then click points of interest on the map to produce measures of length or area.

Changing Styles
For some layers, multiple styles have been created. All available styles will be indicated in the Styles section, on the bottom right of the page. Available styles can be selected in this section and will modify the appearance of the layer. For more information on styles, see Styling Layers.

Downloading Layers

Layer data can be downloaded as either an image file or spatial data, in a variety of formats. Choose the desired format and the image or data should be downloaded automatically.
