Motivated Labs and PIs often drive forward the commercialization process by seeking out partnerships and opportunities to progress their research. SeedSprint gives institutions the ability to enable independent researchers by inviting them to create and manage their own SeedSprint profiles. This feature allows more independent researchers to participate in the commercialization and collaboration process for their research under the supervision of their institution.
Once approved by an admin, PIs have the ability to:
- Create and edit a detailed profile for their laboratory detailing their research and opportunities for collaboration
- Search SeedSprint’s database of startups, institutions, and industry
- Initiate and respond to messages related to their profile
Lab/PIs can only make their own profiles at the invitation of an admin of your institution’s account. Invited labs such as these are called Pre-labs. At the Pre-lab stage, PIs or standard users of the institution can view and edit the lab’s profile. The lab profile, however, will not be public until the profile is published by an admin of your institution’s account, at which point the profile will become searchable on SeedSprint’s database. This process allows a review of the information on the lab’s profile by your institution to ensure that no proprietary information is disclosed by a researcher.
After approval and conversion of a pre-lab to a lab, lab profiles will become independent from the institution’s main profile and may be completely managed by PIs and other lab members. Once converted, institutions will no longer be able to edit, publish, unpublish, or manage laboratory profiles.
