The Rates and Availability Calendar (R&A) has many functionalities in order to manage/change rates and restrictions.
When the correct period is set, the correct Rate Plans, Room Types and/or Channels are selected and, possibly, the correct Restrictions are visible, the Changes can be made on the Calendar.

Changing prices with use of the Master Rate

The easiest way to update the prices for all channels that use a specific rate plan, is by changing the price in the Master Rate.
In this example, the Double Rooms – Standard Rate is € 300 per day on the Master Rate. This results in the channel ‘Hotel’ also having the price at € 300 for the standard rate and € 290 for the Non Refundable rate (there is a fixed discount set of € 10 on the Default Rate Settings).

Process

  1. Change the 300 under ‘Master Rate’ to the new price (as an example it will be 350)
    1. For Channel ‘Hotel’ both the standard rate (t0 350) and Non Refundable rate (to 340) are changed too
    2. All changed prices are indicated with a red bar, indicating an unsaved change
    3. The save button is enabled
  2. Click ‘Save’ to process all changes
    1. The green bar on top is shown, indicating saving was successful
    2. The red bars will be removed
    3. The save button is disabled

Changing prices per Channel

It may occur that a price (or prices) only have to be changed for a specific channel. IN these cases, changing the Master Rate will not work as that will change all Channels.
Firstly the Channel needs to be selected, in this example the Channel is ‘Hotel’ and the rates are the same again:

Process

  1. Change the 300 under Channel ‘Hotel’ for the Standard Rate to the new price (as an example it will be 350)
    1. For Channel ‘Hotel’ the Non Refundable rate is changed too (to 340).
    2. No other Channel is changed
    3. All changed prices are indicated with a red bar, indicating an unsaved change
    4. The save button is enabled
  2. Click ‘Save’ to process all changes
    1. The green bar on top is shown, indicating saving was successful
    2. The red bars will be removed
    3. The save button is disabled

Changing restrictions with use of the Master Rate

The easiest way to change restrictions for a certain Rate Plan – Room type combination, is to make the change on the Master Rate. When done this way, the changes will be applied to all channels where the same Rate Plan – Room type combination is mapped to.
As an example this is the start situation: The standard rate has no minimum or maximum length of stay and Channel ‘Hotel’ has neither.

Process

  1. Change, under Master Rate, the Min/max Stay for the Standard Rate from 0 / 0 to 2 / 3
    1. For Channel ‘Hotel’ the Min/max stay is also changed to 2 / 3
    2. All changed price fields/days are indicated with a red bar, indicating an unsaved change
    3. The changes days have a yellow bar, indicating a restriction is active for that price.
    4. The save button is enabled
  2. Click ‘Save’ to process all changes
    1. The green bar on top is shown, indicating saving was successful
    2. The red bars will be removed (the yellow bars remain as restrictions are active)
    3. The save button is disabled

changing restrictions per channel

It may occur that a restrictions only have to be changed for a specific channel. IN these cases, changing the Master Rate will not work as that will change all Channels.
Firstly the Channel needs to be selected, in this example the Channel is ‘Hotel’ and the Min/Max stay is 0 / 0 again:

  1. Change, under Channel ‘Hotel’, the Min/max Stay for the Standard Rate from 0 / 0 to 2 / 3
    1. All changed price fields/days are indicated with a red bar, indicating an unsaved change
    2. The changed days have a yellow bar, indicating a restriction is active for that price.
    3. The save button is enabled
  2. Click ‘Save’ to process all changes
    1. The green bar on top is shown, indicating saving was successful
    2. The red bars will be removed (the yellow bars remain as restrictions are active)
    3. The save button is disabled

Changing Availability

The normal set up of the Availability is to have it on ‘AUTO’, which will assign the number of rooms in the hotel for a certain Room Type to all applicable Rate Plan-Room Type combination. This results in the situation that the rooms can be sold for every Rate Plan mapped to the Room Type until no rooms are available anymore. The R&A displays the actual available rooms per day per room type. This availability is per default the same for all Channels as it is for Master Rate, based on the principal of ‘first-come-first-serve’.

It can occur that on certain days the available rooms have to be adjusted manually. This can be done on the Master Rate.
The example shows an Availability of 3 rooms per day on the Master Rate and therefor also on the Channel ‘Hotel’.

Process

  1. Click on the available rooms under ‘Double Rooms’ (in this example it is 3)
  2. Type the desired new availability (in this example 2)
    1. The Availability for Channel ‘Hotel’ is also changed to 2
    2. All changed days are indicated with a red bar, on the first available price per channel
    3. The save button is enabled
  3. Click ‘Save’ to process all changes
    1. The green bar on top is shown, indicating saving was successful
    2. The red bars will be removed
    3. The save button is disabled
