Goals, Stratagies & Tactics

The concept of a goal, strategies and tactics is a huge part of being an individual fire fighter working in a team of fire fighters, as is of course, hose lay.

We have had the fortunate experience of working with volunteer, paid, civilian and military fire fighters from all over the world and over time have refined the ideas they have with our Attack and Lay packs. These tactics are the result.

Goal – Stretch between the water supply and the fire
Strategy – Assess the current and likely situation
Tactics – Apply the most suited hose laying tactics

  • Lay
  • Charge
  • Advance

…fire hose…

  • Rapidly
  • Effectively
  • Reliably

There are many names of hose lays and as many definitions, we have refined it here to three simple variables and after a quick assessment of these and the overall situation fire fighters can decide how to act.

  • From – what is the water supply
  • To – is the fire’s location known or unknown
  • Need – is more than one attack line likely?

Once we know this, we can decide:

  • The Tactics

  • Standard Hose Lay
  • Drag & Drop Lay
  • Multi Lay
