Holding Brake Roller (HBR) Usage /

Using AUX I/O

If dedicating one of the Motor Ports on the ConveyLinx-Ai Family Module to use with an HBR is not desired; with an IOX interface module , some wiring effort, and configuration with EasyRoll+, the HBR can utilize one of the Sensor Port’s AUX outputs for control.
This method requires two steps:

  1. Connect the HBR to the IOX
  2. Configure the operation in EasyRoll+

Wiring to the IOX Interface Module

Option 1 – Cut off M8 Connector

You can cut off the M8 connector from the end of the HBR cable, strip back the cable insulation to reveal the individual wires. Strip back the white and blue wires and cut the other two wires flush. Connect the blue and white wire to the IOX as shown

Pros ● Does not use up any Motor Ports on the ConveyLinx-Ai Family Module leaving both available for a motor roller/drive
Cons ● Requires purchase of IOX Interface Module
● Requires manually cutting off the HBR M8 connector
● Requires field wiring to connect
● Requires external 24V power to IOX
● Requires configuration in EasyRoll+

Option 2 – Use an M8 to Pigtail adapter

With this option, you leave the HBR M8 connector intact and connect it to your 4-Pin A coded M8 to Pigtail adapter. Connect the Pin 2 and Pin 3 wires to the IOX as shown:

Pros ● Does not use up any Motor Ports on the ConveyLinx-Ai Family Module leaving both available for a motor roller/drive
Cons ● Requires purchase of IOX Interface Module
● Requires purchase of M8 pigtail adapter
● Requires field wiring to connect
● Requires external 24V power to IOX
● Requires configuration in EasyRoll+

Configuring in EasyRoll+

Select the ConveyLinx-Ai Family Module that has your HBR connected and navigate to the Custom Functions tab. Check the corresponding LeftPin2 brake ctrl or RightPin2 brake ctrl checkbox to enable the HBR control.
