Description: The text() function will convert any value into a string. If the element contains a null value, the formula will return an empty string: “”.

SYNTAX
text(Value to Convert)

WHERE

  • text, in lowercase initiates the function
  • Value to Convert is a single (not an array) element of any format

Things to keep in mind when constructing this function:
1. The key element of the function is case sensitive and must be entered in all lower case
2. the Value to Convert element is required

EXAMPLES
text($750.00) = “$750.00”
text(today()) = “8/21/2019”

USAGE
Say you have a Number field called Amount and you want to create a formula that shows the Amount in Red. Since the styled() function only applies to text elements, you have to convert the Amount field into text first. Here’s the code:

styled(text(Amount), “red”)

You’ll then get a field that looks like this:

Revision: 2
Last modified: 2019/11/03
