DESCRIPTION

The capitalize() function is used to convert the first character of each word in a “text string” to upper case.

SYNTAX
capitalize(“text string”)

WHERE

  • capitalize is the function keyword. This must be entered into the Ninox function editor in all lower-case characters
  • “text string” is a single word or series of words

EXAMPLE

capitallize(“new york city”) = “New York City”
capitalize(“the ohio state university”) = “The Ohio State University”

USAGE

As consistency is a core characteristic of high quality data in a relational database platform like Ninox, it is important that strings of proper nouns be consistently and correctly presented in standard case – a format where the first letter of each word in the string is capitalized. This function is particularly useful when it is necessary to standardize the names of locations including cities, states, principalities, nations, countries and continents.
