With the introduction of server and camera rules, Orchid Hybrid VMS is also launching the Recorder Directives. The Recorder Directives are comprised of local configuration settings that will need to be passed to all of the system’s Orchid Recorders. Currently, this only includes server and camera tag rules. The directives may be expanded in future releases to include additional settings.

The Recorder Directives screen lists all of the Recorder servers in the system and the status of the Rule directive on each of those servers. This gives Administrators a way to verify the current version of the Rule directive, and to quickly identify if any of the Recorders are not up to date.

  1. To access the Recorder Directives page, go to the System Menu and select Recorder Directives. (You may also access this page through a link on the Server Rules tab or the Camera Rules tab.)

Near the top of the screen, you will see the latest version of the Rule directive and the creation date. (This is the version you should see listed for each of the Recorders.) This screen also includes a way to search and sort the Recorders, review each of the Recorders, and refresh the system.

  1. You may click on any row to expand a server and review the details.
  2. Click the Refresh button to update the list with the latest version and status info from each of the Recorders.
  3. If you want to work on Rule Tags, click the Manage Tags page link.

Search for a Server

If you have a large number of registered Orchid Recorders, the Search field will help you find specific servers quickly.

The Search field will appear near the top of the Recorder Directives screen. It supports searching by server names, using single and multiple search tags.

  1. Click into the Search field to start your search.
  2. Type one or more search tags (pressing Enter after each).
    1. A single search tag with multiple terms (words or numbers) will initiate a search for results that include all of the terms in the tag.
    2. Multiple, single-term search tags will initiate a search for results that include at least one of those tags.

Each time you press Enter, the Recorder Directives screen will update to display all of the servers that contain the tag(s).

  1. To remove a search tag, click the “X” to the right of the search tag.
  2. To remove all of the search tags, click the Reset button. (The screen will refresh to display all of the servers.)

Filter the List

The filter options give you the ability to list only those servers that meet selected filter criteria. Options include filtering by server state and by directives status. (In large systems, this is the quickest way to find out if any of the Recorders are using an out-of-date directive.)

Filter by Server State

  1. Click the Server State drop-down list to select your filter.
  2. Mark the server state box (Offline or Online) that represents the servers you want to view.

Each time you mark a box, the search term will appear beneath the Search field, and the Recorder Directives screen will update to display a list of all of the Recorders that match the selected state.

  1. Unmark a Server State box to remove that filter criteria.
  2. You may also click the X to the right of the Server State search tag to remove the search tag.
  3. Click the Reset button to remove all of the search tags.

Filter by Directives Status

  1. Click the Directives Status drop-down list to start your search.
  2. Mark one or more of the Status boxes that represent the Recorders you want to view. Status options include the following:
    1. Applied: The Rule directive has been applied to the server successfully.
    2. Error: This indicates that the Recorder was unable to apply the directive. (If you are unsure why this is the case, contact IPConfigure Support for help.)
    3. Partial: This indicates that the entire Rule directive could not be applied. (Be sure that the Recorder is running the latest version of Orchid.)
    4. Pending: This indicates that the Rule directive application has yet to be completed. (For large systems, it may take longer for the directive to be applied to all of the Recorders.)

Each time you mark a box, the search term will appear beneath the Search field, and the Recorder Directives screen will update to display a list of all of the Recorders that match the selected filter(s).

  1. Unmark a Directive Status box to remove those Recorders from the search results.
  2. You may also click the X to the right of the Directive Status search term to remove the search tag.
  3. Click the Reset button to remove all of the search tags.

Sort the List

The arrow icon (available for each column in the list) allows you to sort the list.
  1. To sort the list, first determine the property you want to use for the sort. Available options are as follows:
    1. Release: This option will sort the list by the supervisory software version number installed on the Recorder.
    2. Server Name: This option will sort the list by the Recorder server name.
    3. Version: This option will sort the list by the version number of the Rule directive applied to the Recorder.
    4. Status: This option will sort the list by the status of the Rule directive being applied to the Recorder.
  2. Click the arrow next to the column heading you want to use for the sort. (Each time you click the icon, the order will switch between ascending and descending.)
