The Preview function allows you to quickly view a document to verify its content without opening or downloading the full file. This is especially helpful when you’re searching for a file and don’t recognize it by name alone.

How to Preview Documents
You can preview a document from several locations in EPC, including the Document Details View, Home Page, and List View, by clicking the Preview icon ( ).
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Find the document you want to view and click the Preview icon.
- A pop-up window will appear showing a preview of the document.
The preview experience may vary based on system settings and user authorizations
- When
DOCUMENT_CONTROLLED_COPIESis enabled:- The preview window will show limited options.
- If the document is a PDF with a built-in table of contents, it will be displayed in the panel.

Interactive Table of Contents for PDF Previews
When previewing a PDF file with an embedded table of contents, an interactive, tree-structured list appears in the right-hand panel of the preview window. This allows for quick navigation through long documents.
- The table of contents is divided into sections that can be expanded or collapsed.
- Clicking a section title will jump directly to that part of the document, making reading faster and more efficient.
Important Notes
Preview Speed
Preview generation depends on the file’s size and complexity. Larger or more complex files may take longer to load; for faster access, it is recommended to download them instead.
File Size Limit
By default, files larger than 10MB cannot be previewed. If needed, the system administrator can adjust this limit using the FILE_PREVIEW_MAX_FILE_SIZE field in the Advanced System Settings.
Preview Timer
It takes up to 60,000 milliseconds (1 minute) to generate a preview for new files. This delay can also be adjusted in the Advanced System Settings via the FILE_PREVIEW_TIMER_DEFAULT field.
