The Visio Import feature allows you to bring process maps from Microsoft Visio into EPC.

How to Import a Visio File

  1. From the main navigation toolbar, click the three-dot menu and select Import.

  1. Select Visio (.vsdx) and click Browse to select the file.

  1. After selecting the Visio document, choose where the process will be located:
  • Type to search for the destination, or
  • Use the Tree Selector to browse the hierarchy.

You can also specify the organization unit where roles will be created and match the shapes from Visio.

  1. Choose whether to publish the process and overwrite duplicates during import.
    • Overwrite: Combines duplicate objects into your environment.
    • Unchecked Overwrite: Duplicate objects in your current EPC environment will be duplicated.

  1. Click Next. The system will allow you to map Visio shapes to BPMN equivalents.

  1. Once your selections are complete, click Finish.

  1. You will receive a notification when the import is complete.

  1. The imported process will appear under the parent process you selected in the hierarchy tree.

Example Use Case

Here is an example of a Visio import layout after being imported in EPC:

Visio Import Rules

For compatibility, only the following Visio elements are recognized by the system. All elements not listed will be imported as Tasks.

EPC can recognize and classify Processes and Sub-Processes when importing from Visio. This ensures your hierarchical process structure is maintained.
