Folder are used to group objects, similar to the way you use folders on your computer. In the context of EPC, folders can be under a set, or under another folder as a sub-folder. There can be many levels of folders, each with objects within.
Users can create folders in EPC three simple ways: using the Create button, from the Details page of a Set or Folder, or by right-clicking in the hierarchical tree.
Creating Folders with the Create Button
- Click the Create button on the top-right of the page.
- In the drop-down menu, choose the module where you want to create a folder and click the
icon.
- Click [Object Type] Folder to start creating a new folder.
- Fill in the Folder details:
- Name
- Parent
- Unique ID
- Description
- In the What is the Purge Period? accordion, specify the number of years the folder will remain in the Archive before it can be permanently removed from the system.
- Click Add & Close. You’ll be redirected to the Details page of your new folder.
Creating Folders from the Details Page
- Select the Set or Folder under which the new folder will be created.
- Open the Details page of the selected Set or Folder.
- Click the
button and choose [Object Type] Folder.
- Fill in the details in the form.
- Specify the Purge Period if relevant.
- Click Add & Close.
Creating Folders with the Tree Right-Click
- Navigate to the module where you want to create a new folder.
- Right-click on a Set or Folder in the tree.
- Select New [Object Type] Folder.
- Fill in the details in the form.
- Specify the Purge Period if relevant.
- Click Add & Close.
