The Auto-Updating Word References feature allows you to create Word documents that automatically pull in the latest content from other Word files stored in EPC.

By inserting @@merge:UID tags in your document, EPC dynamically replaces the tags with content from the referenced documents whenever the file is previewed, printed, or downloaded. This ensures your documentation stays accurate and up to date without manual edits.

Creating Auto-Updating References

  1. Insert Merge Tags
In your Word document, place the @@merge:UID tag exactly where you want content from another EPC document to appear.
  1. Replace UID
Replace UID with the EPC UID of the document you want to reference. Example: @@merge:B4B498A4-FA6F-403D-AE28-B5DD0E5D23AB

  1. Publish the Referenced Document
Ensure the document you are referencing is published. Only published documents can be pulled into other files.

  1. Upload or Replace the Document to EPC
Upload the new document or replace an existing one.
  1. View Updated Content
Whenever you preview, print, or download this document in EPC, the system automatically inserts the latest content from the published referenced documents.
