12.1.3.14 Copy (and Paste) Existing Objects

The Copy function lets you duplicate an existing object. This creates an exact copy, including all associations and critical details. Use it to rapidly build content without starting from scratch.

How to Copy Objects

1. Open the object’s Details page.
2. In the Edit dropdown, select Copy.

1. Select the destination where you want to paste the object.
2. Click Paste.

3. You will automatically be redirected to your new copy.

Rules and Limitations

General

• Copied objects are renamed automatically: the name will start with “Copy of [name of copied object]”.
• Approval cycles and security configurations are not copied.
• You cannot copy and paste an object into the same location.

Locks

• Copying an object that another user is editing is allowed. No lock error appears, and the copy is created with the latest saved content.
  • However, In the Process Module, creating a copy under a locked process is blocked. A lock error appears (see Edit Lock).

Performance Limit

You can copy up to 500 objects at a time. For example, you cannot copy a folder containing more than 500 objects.
