The Data Harmonization controls how changes to associated objects are synchronized. You decide whether updates to related content are applied automatically or require review.

In this cycle, users review updated associated documentation to confirm if it is still relevant or should be replaced. This helps keep information current while preserving approved relationships between objects.

Data Harmonization is optional and configured per object, so control can be applied only where needed. Some documentation may require strict oversight, while others can be updated automatically.

Within Advanced System Settings, system administrators can:

  • Enable or disable data association harmonization.
  • Set the default harmonization control value.

How to Enable or Disable Data Harmonization

  1. Navigate to the Advanced System Settings.
  2. Locate the ENABLE_HARMONIZATION field.
  3. Click the pencil icon on the right side of the field.

  1. Change the value:
    • true → Enable harmonization
    • false → Disable harmonization

  1. New processes created after the change will follow the new setting. Existing processes that were set to High, Moderate, or Low Control will continue to behave as originally configured.
  2. Scroll to the top of the page and click Copy Link and Apply Changes to save.

How to Change the Default Harmonization Value

  1. Locate the HARMONIZATION_CONTROL_DEFAULT field.
  2. Click the pencil icon on the right side of the field.

  1. Set the value to one of the following options:
  • low (default) → “Low Control”
    • Association version changes are always synced automatically for both major and minor publications.
  • moderate → “Moderate Control”
    • Association version changes are only synced automatically for minor publications.
    • Major publications will mark the subject designated as Moderate Control out of date.
  • high → “High Control”
    • Association version changes are never synced automatically.
    • Any publication (major or minor) will mark the subject designated as High Control out of date.
