Option Connections to External Systems
Active Directory
Connection to a server running Windows 2008 (including R2), 2012 (Including R2), and 2016 Active Directory (via LDAP protocol): It is possible to run the EPC Server on a network without Active Directory. Without a connection to Active Directory, you will not be able to import users. Instead, you will have to create them individually using the EPC System Administration interface.
ADFS server
Connection to ADFS server is used to create epc users at the moment of the first successful login to ADFS Server. The users by default will have minimum rights. An EPC Administrator will have to provide access to a new created epc user to EPC resources.
SMTP Server
It is possible to run the EPC Server on a network without a connection to an e-mail server. Without such a connection, EPC password and subscription notification will not be available, and you will be unable to e-mail Discussion Forum messages.
NOTE
EPC Server supports non-authenticated connections or connections authenticated with a basic authentication type to SMTP Server.
