Hank recommends using a dual display (i.e., two monitors) to maximize efficiency by separating coding from relevant documentation. To this end, the following setting recommendations reference a documentation screen and a coding screen. However, for users using a single monitor, the coding screen recommendations should be followed.

To access your display settings, right click on a blank area of your desktop and select Display Settings. In the Scale and Layout area (for Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems), select the following recommended settings:

  • Setting: Change the size of text, apps, and other items
    • Coding Screen: 100%
    • Documentation Screen: no more than 150%
  • Setting: Display Resolution
    • Coding Screen: 1920 × 1080
    • Documentation Screen: at least 1280 × 720
