This dialog box lets you set up Audiotool to communicate with external MIDI controllers.

MIDI set–up
Figure 6.4.13: The “MIDI set–up” dialog box.

  1. Cancel: This button closes the dialog box without setting MIDI up.
  2. Setup MIDI: This button starts the search for MIDI devices connected to your system. It then opens the “MIDI devices” dialog box once all your MIDI devices have been found. Note: Audiotool communicates with your MIDI devices through the Web-MIDI API from Google Chrome, which must be activated. Refer to the section “External controllers” for instructions.

CreativiTimothy: Once your MIDI controller is connected to the app, you can close the MIDI Setup dialogue. Right-click the device on your desktop you'd like to control and select "Learn MIDI Keyboard". Then press any note on your controller.

Alright, I managed to go to Windows -> Midi Setup. But now I'm stuck. It just says "Incoming messages will highlight the device name"

It doesn't tell me where to put MIDI input and how to create notes. I press the piano and notes are not coming up in the timeline.

How do I get to this dialogue box in the first place? What button in the menu do I click?

RPSARRETT: "Add a midi"? You mean a MIDI device? Just connect it to your computer, open this dialogue and press the "Setup MIDI" button. The description is above.

@Chloe: Just do what the dialogue says: Connect your MIDI device to your computer and press the "Setup MIDI" button. As explained above, this will open the "MIDI devices" dialogue where you'll be able to see your controller.
